A journey of discovery

The Bregenzerwald Cheese Route consists of a network of farmers, mountain dairies and cheesemakers, hotels and inns, museums and railways, tourist attractions and partners in handicrafts and trade. The factor linking all 160 partners in the Cheese Route network is their commitment to the maintenance and preservation of local culture and traditions.

Other attractions on the Cheese Route are, for example, the modern cheese cellar in Lingenau, where many thousands of wheels of mountain cheese are stored for ripening; the cheese house in Andelsbuch, open seven days a week, where the whole range of Bregenzerwald cheeses and other produce are on sale; the dairy school in Egg, where students of the dairy course learn how to make their own cream cheese.
